About

Disappearing Corners: It’s not about the buildings that are disappearing physically, but disappearing from our minds and memories. We’re here to retrieve these old tales to share with all of you, in hope that we can sometimes stand for a minute to appreciate these old hovels that we walk past without noticing each day.

A one-man personal project founded by Cintia Kou as Disappearing Corners in 2002 with a simple aim to document Macau’s architectural heritage through photography and a story, ShDC (Shanghai Disappearing Corners) is now a loose group of expats based in Shanghai working together towards the same goal with the city’s historical buildings. Besides researching the stories of these houses, ShDC organizes walk tours to rediscover Shanghai’s hidden gems.

Meanwhile, as we’re speeding up to complete this website, which, by then, will contain information of all these houses, please feel free to take a look at our collection of images we took over the years at: http://www.flickr.com/groups/353116@N23/
